The Kickstart Scheme helps businesses of all shapes and sizes employ young people that are currently out of work with wage subsidies and setup funding.
What is the Kickstart Scheme?
The Kickstart scheme is a £2 billion fund to create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6-month work placements for young people.
The placement must be an ‘additional’ job. This means you can’t be recruiting for it already or replace redundant staff. Plus, the young people must receive employability support so they are better able to move into more sustainable employment in the future.
The Government pays the wages of the young person (25/hr week) for 6 months.
Either you or a partner (such as a Kickstart gateway) provide the mandatory employability support.
Contact us for details of the Kickstart Gateway services we are running across the UK.
Want more information?
Supplytrain is working with several organisations to provide high-quality gateway support including chambers of commerce, social enterprises and reputable training providers.
If you’d like further details, email email@example.com with details of your Kickstart query and your location and we will send you the most relevant information for your area.
What does the surplus go towards?
The government provides funding for Kickstart Gateway services and the employability support young people must receive on programme.
Supplytrain CIC works with other organisations to provide this support for a reasonable fee to cover our costs. Any surplus made from this scheme is reinvested into providing impartial advice and support services to small businesses that will help young people into meaningful work.
How easy is it to get involved?
It’s easy to get involved in the Kickstart scheme as a small business, but unless you can offer more than 30 placements on your own, you must work with a Kickstart Gateway Service.
There are lots of Gateway Services to choose from (Supplytrain is involved with several), but do your due diligence so you find a partner that will support you and the young person throughout the programme and beyond.
