Paid, supported work placements for care-experienced young people in West Yorkshire.

If you are care-experienced and ready to start your journey into work, this opportunity could help you take that next step.

Through this programme, Supplytrain will match a small number of motivated young people with supportive local employers for three months of paid work. You’ll get at least 16 hours a week, with one-to-one support throughout.

The goal is simple: to help you build confidence, experience and good work habits so that after three months you are ready to move into a full-time job or apprenticeship with your host employer.

What you can expect?

A paid job

– For 12 weeks, with at least 16 hours of work per week

A role you’re interested in

– Matched to a real business near where you live

A chance to learn new skills

– Experience regular working hours

Weekly check-ins

– On-going support provided by Supplytrain staff

Help with the next step

– We’ll aim to progress you onto a full-time job or apprenticeship

During your placement, Supplytrain staff will be your first point of contact for any issues – at work, at home or personally. We are here to help you settle in, solve problems early and make sure you get the most from the opportunity.

    Who we are looking for?

We want to hear from care-experienced young people aged 18-24 who:

    – Feel ready and motivated to start work

    – Want to work towards a long-term employment opportunity

    – Can commit to turning up, learning and giving their best

    – Are open to feedback and support

    – Have a self-declared health issue including poor mental health that has made it harder to find or stay in work in the past.

    – Are resident at a West Yorkshire postcode

    The right career step

This programme is about helping you take the next right career step, not about being perfect on day one. If you are willing to turn up on time, work hard and learn, we will be by your side throughout helping you secure a longer-term career.

    Why take part?

This programme is more than a short-term job. It’s a chance to:

    – Gain experience in a real workplace

    – Build confidence and routine

    – Develop positive relationships and role models at work

    – Take the first step towards a long-term career

    – Receive personal, 1-2-1 support from people who understand your background and challenges

We are here to support you

We know it takes courage to start something new. Our team will support you every step of the way – to help you stay on track, build good habits and move forward in life and work.

    1. Apply online using the form below:

Tell us what sectors you’d be open to working in, and a bit about you – what are your hobbies, what jobs do you want and why. You can also upload a CV if you have one. Please write WYCA in the referral code box.

    2. Interview and support discussion

We’ll arrange a friendly interview to check you’re eligible, get to know you, understand your interests and talk about any support you might need at work.

    3. Matching you with an employer

We’ll aim to match you to an employer who can offer the kind of role you are looking for and who has a supportive workplace where you can learn and grow.

    4. Ongoing support:

We’ll check in regularly, make sure you have what you need and are developing positive work habits. We’ll also help you with concerns that are stopping you giving your best at work.

    5. Progress:

As you prove yourself in the workplace, we’ll work with your host employer to offer you a further 12 months of work – either in a entry-level position or as an apprentice. We’ll be on-hand for the next 12 months too, helping you make the most of this opportunity.
